Cirque Du Freak Double Page Spread Illustration
"Cirque Du Freak Double Page Spread Illustration"
11x17
Watercolour and Gauche on watercolour paper & Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop
Another Book Illustration project...
To be honest, i didn't put as much effort as the last one
because I had tons of other stuff to deal with T_T
I would like to call this piece a 'failure'.....
There are tons of flaws i could point out even when i was working on it,
but i didn't bother fixing those problems because i was too stressed out;
I am unhappy with the colours,
this is completely different from what i initially planned out...
Plus i regret not giving enough depth to this illustration.
and the right side of this illustration looks just WRONG
I tried making shadows and yellow spotlights but it was too much so i ended up covering the whole background with black gauche lol
It was okay until i worked on the curtain, the textbox and Larten Crepsley (the guy with a flute)
but starting from the twisting twins, things went completely out of control!!!
at least i had more fun working on this project than other boring digital assignments......
My attitude probably seems really unprofessional
but i think Enjoying what i do is the most important thing for me right now.
because this damn school is making me hate art more and more every day lol

Dr.Bluebeard
'Dr.Bluebeard'
11x15 (not exact)
Watercolour, Guache and Ink
This is a piece I did for my Book Illustration class :)
There is another page with some of the story written,
and the layout looks pretty cool but there are too many typos
since I couldn't revise it due to my stupid headache...
That's why I hate working digitally lol
However the artwork is 100% traditionally painted.
I will not post the other page until i am done fixing all the typos x_x...

My Ito Junji Collection
I am a HUGE fan of Ito Junji
so I decided to purchase some of his books over the summer +_+
I really wanted to buy 'Gyo', but couldn't find it anywhere...
so I just got the Entire Volume of 'Ito Junji's Museum of Terror'
which is a collection of many of his works
Plus 'Black Paradox', 'Uzumaki', 'Ito Junji's Cat Diary: Yon & Mu', 'Hellstar Remina', 'Mimino Kaidan' and 'Yami no Koe'.
So ..These were pretty much everything i read over the summer break lol
Out of all the Ito Junji's stories, I really really really loved 'Lovesick Dead' which was featured in the 10th volume of Museum of Terror.
I couldn't sleep properly after i read this x_x
It's a story based on Japanese urban legend, 'Crossroad oracle(?)'
(sorry about my bad translation..)
On a foggy day, a person stand at a corner of a crossroad, and ask a question about the future (relationship/career or whatever it is) to a random pedestrian that walks by.
The person's fate is decided upon the pedestrian's answer.
I'm hoping to purchase a individual edition of this one day +_+
Anyway, probably a lot of people already know of Ito Junji,
but if you're into horror manga and don't know about him, please check him out!!!
Such a weird thinker with amazing skill :)
<I have no idea how to translate his name(?)...>

'Swing' featured in Cadmium September Issue :)
My work has made it into September issue of Cadmium (OCADU's Student magazine) +_+
I kind of wish it wasn't black and white though...
But i was actually really surprised that they printed it to be so big (bigger than the original artwork).
Anyway..
It's not really a huge thing to brag about
still it's the first time that my work was ever mass produced(?).
This really boasted my motivation which i think is the most important.
I'm considering entering some competitions from this year.
Hope everything works out well!!
Wish me luck :)

An Illustration I did almost 3 years ago...
'Identity Bear'
16x20
Guache on Illustration Board
This was one of the many portforlio artworks for OCADU's entrance interview :)
I'm going into 3rd year already so this piece is about 2 years old,
but it's one of my favorite illustration of all time (lol)
plus, this piece of illustration earned me $1000 entrance scholarship.
The professors at the interview absolutely adored this piece
Funny how OCADU initially didn't even let me apply because i didn't have a high school diploma...
(I dropped out of high school to go to an overseas exchange program then ended up getting GED instead of going back to school which seemed so useless)
I'll be posting more of my older works soon :)
doodling on photoshop
A small drawing done on photoshop...
I still don't know anything about photoshop
except for a bit about layers and how to draw with brushes..T_T
i'll probably start watching online tutorials or whatever
because it seems like i won't be able to get a decent job without knowing how to work digitally x_x
